Normally, I would never venture out to the Valley, but the NoHo Scene Festival might change my mind for a hot minute. This event actually looks like it will be worth taking the metro link out to North Hollywood. Best of all, it is free and I know the world loves free events. Sponsored by the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles, this an all day celebration of the arts in the NoHo Arts District. There will be performances, workshops, and exhibits, as well as an array of discounts, samplings and promotions from local boutiques, restaurants and businesses. Free shuttles will take visitors throughout the NoHo Arts District, or arts patrons can stop and relax at a centrally-located outdoor stage with adjacent food & wine garden. This is an great event to hang with your friends or dare i say it, your folks. I’m personally going just for Shane Sparks from “So You Think You Can Dance?” I love that show. He’s going to be judging the dance contest. I’m thinking I should enter, but I can barely do Pop,Lock, and Drop without hurting myself. Ah, another dream down the drain.

Other highlights include:

“Art Battle” – artists compete live, side-by-side, to create works incorporating the musical numbers from Ed Begley’s new production about the life of Cesar Chavez.

Saturday, October 6 from 11am-10pm
